Apparently Stockton Rush who is the CEO of Ocean Gate told Arnie Weissmann that the carbon fiber Ocean Gate used to make the Titan submarine he got from Boeing at a big discount.

“He got this big discount because the carbon fiber was past its useful life for use in airplanes,” wrote Arnie Weissmann.

In memory, he asked Stockton Rush if that would be a problem. But Stockton Rush said he was told by Boeing that the expiration date was set sooner than it should have been.
