BONSERNEWS.com – The deep sea expert leading the team to salvage the remains of the missing Titan submarine gets emotional while discussing the rescue operation.

Ed Cassano, chief executive of Pelagic Research Services, said OceanGate contacted his team as soon as the sub lost contact on June 18.

His company dispatched a remotely operated vehicle, or ROV, which quickly located the sub’s remains.

His company’s ROV, the Odysseus 6K, was the only tool in the search effort capable of reaching the depths of the wreckage of the Titanic.

He said his team had prepared to save the sub, but it soon became clear that the passengers could not survive.

“At 12 o’clock, unfortunately, the rescue turned into a recovery,” said Cassano.

“Shortly after we arrived at the bottom of the ocean, we found the wreckage of the Titan submarine,” he said.

Cassano then stopped, took a deep breath, and appeared to be holding back tears.

He went on to say: “I have to apologize, we are still demobilizing, there are a lot of emotions, people are tired.”
